Fall is always a challenging time of year for the farm crew, but this year has been especially difficult. Cooler weather means, inevitably, the slowdown of grass growth, which means they must work harder to keep the cows grazing (but not overgrazing!) and still be sure we’ll have grass through early December and the end of milking. With the long, dry summer we had this year, balancing all these factors has become even harder. But with hard work, good management, and maybe a bit of luck we’ll still be making cheese come December!
