Our little girls are all grown up! Our 2025 calves (the "Littles") are getting their last feedings of milk on the "titty bar" this week -- next week, they'll be weaned off the group feeders. This won't be a sudden move, though; we put the Littles out on grass as soon as we can, slowly increasing the fresh breaks and grain supplements and decreasing the milk supplied as they get closer to weaning. Several have already started to self-wean, so they're definitely ready to move on to their life as full-time grazers. We have a closed herd, meaning we raise all our own replacements; in two years, all these girls will be in the milking herd and having calves of their own. But for now, congratulations to the graduating class of 2025!
